The Wish is a furniture bank that collects used but useable household items for needy families. They work with local case workers to help people that are moving from homeless shelters get the items they need to setup an apartment or house. All the things that we take for granted every day.
In the past year, 2008, the Wish helped more than 27,000 needy kids and families to get furniture, baby gear, backpacks, clothing, appliances, computers, diapers and more. The need was 300X greater in 2008 compared to 2007. They now assist more than 1,000 clients/month. They do not provide services - but supply goods to the more than 120 homeless shelters, elder services, early intervention and other social service agencies in the region.
The Wish leverages every $1 donated into $4.50 in value of goods out They are dedicated to working with social services and to cost efficiently help clients succeed in whatever challenges they face.
